Andrew and Brandy started Gather Offroad because they know what it's like to show up somewhere new and wish you had a local to show you around. Here's their story.

Every time we roll into a new riding area, the first thing we do is try to find someone who knows the trails.

Not the map. Not the app. A person.

Someone who can tell us which trails are actually worth it, where the sketchy spots are, and what we would miss if we just followed the GPS. That is how we have had our best rides. And that is why we built Gather Offroad.

Who We Are

We are Andrew and Brandy, and we live on the East Coast in Virginia. We have been riding together for about six years. Both of us had some experience as kids, but we really got back into it after we started dating.

These days, we run a 2022 Can-Am X3 XRS RR MAX with SmartShox. It hauls our whole family: all five kids and both dogs. Yeah, it gets loud. Yeah, it is worth it.

How This Started

Our home turf is the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system in West Virginia. We have spent years learning those trails, and now when we ride with a group, we are usually the ones leading. We joke about accepting tips.

But when we travel somewhere new? We are the ones looking for help.

We have been lucky enough to connect with locals who showed us around, and those trips were always better. Not just safer, but more fun. You see things you would never find on your own. You skip the boring stuff. You come home with stories.

Last year, we finally said it out loud:

Why isn't there a way to find these people?

Not a Facebook group where you post and hope someone responds. Not a forum thread from 2019. An actual platform where you can find an experienced local, book a guided ride, and show up ready to go.

So we built it.

Why a Platform?

We thought about just running our own guide service. But here is the thing: we don't know every riding spot. Nobody does.

The person who knows Moab isn't the same person who knows Hatfield-McCoy. The local who grew up riding in Tennessee isn't the same as the one in Colorado. The magic is in the locals. We are just building the thing that connects them to riders who need them.

What We Love About This Community

Andrew works in the city during the week. Getting out of there on weekends, being with close friends, knowing nobody is on their own, knowing we are all getting home together: that is what this is really about.

One of our best memories: a good friend got engaged at the Stairway to Heaven overlook swing on the HMT. That is the kind of moment this sport creates. And it happened because we were with people who knew exactly where to take us.

We want more people to have experiences like that.

Where We Are Going

Right now, we are focused on building something that works: connecting great guides with riders who want to learn.

In a few years? We see Gather Offroad as a worldwide platform. Guides everywhere. Lodging recommendations. A real community built around this sport we love.

For us personally, success looks like traveling with our side-by-side and RV, riding different spots, and knowing there is a guide waiting to show us around wherever we land.

The perfect trail day? 70 degrees, light rain in the morning, technical trails, and a good group of friends watching out for each other.

We are building Gather Offroad so more people can have days like that.
