Required for ALL OHVs on public/state trust land in AZ. $25/year + processing fee. Non-residents: purchase online through AZGFD portal. NEW Jan 2025: mandatory free safety course required before purchase (10-min video + 20 questions, one-time). Non-Resident 30-Day Permit ($15) also available since Sept 2025.

Casner Mountain Trail Width Permit

FREE permit, REQUIRED ONLY for vehicles wider than 62 inches. Vehicles 62" or narrower: NO permit needed. >62": mid-May to mid-October only. PHONE ONLY to reserve: (928) 203-2912 or (575) 551-6033. One group per calendar week. 3-10 vehicles per group, max 25 persons. One-day visit only. Trail is extremely challenging.

USFS Special Use Permit required for commercial guiding. Width restriction permit (>62") is separate from commercial SUP.

Required for parking at designated trailheads in Red Rock Country. Daily: $5. Weekly: $15. Annual: $20. Coconino Annual: $50. Also accepted: America the Beautiful Interagency Pass ($80/yr). NOW DIGITAL: passes tied to license plate. QR codes at trailheads for online purchase. Fee-free days exist.

HIGHLY LIMITED: Only 12 vehicle permits per day. $6/vehicle on Recreation.gov. Book 72 hours to 90 days in advance. Businesses/clubs/organizations may NOT apply for public permits, individual recreation only. Commercial operators need separate USFS SUP. Peak season: expect full bookings.
